The benefits of Vitamin D3.

This months article is on the startling findings about vitamin D deficiency. The next 3 months will be on this subject due to there being so much information I'd like to share.

Insufficient Vitamin D is linked to virtually every age-related disorder including cancer, vascular disease and chronic inflammation. Adults and children with higher Vitamin D levels contract substantially FEWER colds, flu and other viral infections.

Scientists have also discovered that high dose Vitamin A antagonizes the beneficial action of Vitamin D in the body. This finding might explain why certain studies of people using commercial multivitamins ( that contain too much Vitamin A and woefully inadequate vitamin D) have failed to yield expected health benefits.

As daylight hours grow colder and shorter, incidence of the common cold, flu, and respiratory infections spikes upwards. Scientists have identified reduced Vitamin D levels in winter months as a prime suspect for this increase in infectious disease cases.

How much Vitamin D do you need to take? Adults need to be 50 mg/ml when blood testing is done. A vast majority (97.5%) need to be taking 5,000.00 IU. a day. In winter months 5,000.00-8,000.00 IU. is recommended in winter months.
